Parents Highly Recommend Nancy!

Becky & Tony W.;

“Miss Nancy, my son’s tutor, has helped my son get the skills he needs and there’s less ‘it’s too hard, mommy. I don’t want to do it. Can you read for me?’ questions, I feel so humbled and thankful. We could NEVER have done this on our own. To everyone who encourages my son, who talked me through my frustrations, to Miss Nancy for her understanding of Alex’s needs and her love and heart for children, to everyone who has prayed and continues to pray for us, thank you. God is good and faithful. It truly takes a village.”

“Nancy is a wealth of experience, knowledge and resources.  She was able to pick up on my children’s needs very quickly and was able to suggest solutions that would work for them.  She is very patient and obviously cares about all the families she helps.  She was able to immediately point us to what we should be doing to prepare for high school.

 “I now see my children thinking deeper about their work than they did before Ms. Nancy.  They were also more motivated to do the work for her than they were before.  I believe she can help anyone succeed in their educational goals.”

“Our son J was attending our local middle school where he experienced bullying. During that time we decided to find an alternative way of educating our son.  A mutual friend suggested Nancy for help with tutoring. J was able to advance at a rapid rate and took courses at Frederick Community College and Hood College at age 14. He scored high marks on his GED for the state of Maryland.

“He moved forward to the University of Maryland Baltimore Campus at the age of 16. We believe Nancy was instrumental in a big way during those years. We have recommended her to other parents because of Nancy's ability to understand students’ different needs and ways of learning. J was always open to the different challenges that Nancy gave him, which prepared him for college. He graduated with a Physics degree.”

“Nancy came highly recommended by a family who were clients of mine. I provided care for their infant son while they worked, and we became friendly. When we officially got a diagnosis of dyslexia for our 7-year-old, we knew we needed help.

“We have no experience or training with his needs, and with my husband working overtime and me running my daycare, finding time to learn and teach him would have been almost impossibly hard.

“My husband talked to my clients about what we were going through; they let us know that Nancy had taught their daughter and told us she was amazing with kids! We reached out to Nancy from there and thankfully she was able to open a slot for Alex.

“Nancy just goes above and beyond in teaching Alex! She has printed out several teaching materials, the primers, she’s been flexible with scheduling, she’s so patient and he’s responded very well to her teaching.

“When he started in late February he could recognize most letters, but he just couldn’t read. With the methods she uses, he’s now reading the materials she provides, messages in Minecraft, messages in Kids Messenger, reads smaller books in his library and he’s now equipped to make those connections with different sound blends and decode many words from there!

“I have recommended Nancy to several people. When she interviewed with us, she told us about her background, experiences and how she works with children. I can see through her own life experiences that she has a real heart for children - especially children who are not neurotypical. While I love my child, I don’t have the perspective and experience that Nancy has that allows her to be patient and understand exactly the way a (child with) dyslexic thinks and feels. That’s a very big advantage, in my opinion. And Alex responds so well to her teaching style! His dad and I feel truly blessed knowing that he’s getting the skills and confidence he needs from Nancy’s service!”

We needed a tutor for our son who was really behind in reading and language type things.  I was referred to Nancy by another homeschooling mom.  We started with Nancy in February 2019. We didn't follow up with homework like we should have during the summer of 2019.  We took a break from having sessions and were to continue with some things at home.  Because of that, we have seen the most progress this school year (9/2019 - now).  Our son definitely has a way to go but has made good progress.  We've also had our daughter start sessions with Nancy as well because she seemed to be stalling in her reading ability.  She thinks this is helping.  Both children have dyslexia and our son has dysgraphia.  Our son is 10 and our daughter is 13.

 “I would recommend Nancy because she has a lot of background and experience in working with children who have learning disabilities.”

“I hired Nancy to give my son, a student at Montgomery College who has an Individual Educational Plan (IEP), to help him manage his semester, especially during the period from midterms to the finals when he'd be overloaded with homework, and tests in writing and verbal presentations.

“He's learned to go through his syllabi thoroughly to plan his time ahead, and not to be overloaded with homework, tests, and presentations later in the semester.

“He's been sharing housework with me and practicing making arrangements and cancellations with appropriate reasons in advance. Overall, we are less stressed with each other due to better management of time and housework.

“Also, Nancy speaks a number of languages, and was able to help my son with beginning German.

“I have recommended Nancy to other parents in my mom's prayer support group. Having heard about my experiences with Nancy, they have joined in Nancy's parents coaching seminars during this quarantine.”
